Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Cotec (“Cotec”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you visit this website, enquire about our courses, or enrol in one of our programmes. In this policy, “process” means to collect, store, transfer, use, or otherwise act on information.
We take the protection of your privacy seriously. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share or disclose it to third parties except as described in this policy.
Who is responsible for your data
Where you enquire or enrol from the UAE or the wider GCC, the data controller is Cotec International Consultancy - FZCO (Licence 42513, DIEZ, Dubai, United Arab Emirates). Where you contract with our UK entity, the controller is Cotec UK, trading as Red Tulip Business Services Ltd (Registration Number 11413122, United Kingdom). You can reach us about any privacy matter at info@cotec.uk.
The law that applies
This policy is written to comply with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law — Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 (“PDPL”). Where you access this website from the United Kingdom or the European Union, we also apply the UK GDPR and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as relevant.
Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact details you give us — your name, email address, and phone or WhatsApp number.
- Enrolment and enquiry details — the course you are interested in, your current role and, for company invoicing, your employer.
- Payment information — processed securely by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store your full card details.
- Technical and usage data — your IP address, device and browser type, and how you use this website, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
How and why we use your information
Under the PDPL, your consent is the default basis on which we process personal data. We also rely on the performance of a contract with you, our legitimate interests, and our legal obligations. Specifically, we use your information to:
- respond to your enquiry and send you the information you asked for;
- deliver the course you enrol in, including session access, materials, and recordings;
- take payment and issue receipts or company invoices;
- send you service messages about your cohort, and — only with your consent — news about other courses and offers;
- measure and improve our advertising and this website;
- meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
Marketing communications
We only send marketing messages where you have agreed to receive them. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by emailing info@cotec.uk. Opting out of marketing does not stop service messages about a course you have enrolled in.
Cookies and tracking technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies — including Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Conversions API — to understand how our website and advertising perform, and to improve them. You can manage your choices through your browser and our cookie banner. For full detail, see our Cookie Policy.
Who we share your information with
We share personal data only with service providers acting on our behalf, and only as needed to deliver our services. These include:
- payment processing (Stripe);
- website and advertising analytics (Google);
- advertising measurement (Meta);
- email and communications tools;
- our record-keeping and customer-management tools.
We require these providers to protect your data and to use it only for the purposes we specify. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so. We do not sell your personal information.
International transfers
Some of our service providers operate outside the UAE. Where we transfer your personal data internationally, we take the steps required by the PDPL and other applicable law to ensure your data continues to receive an adequate level of protection.
How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out above — for example, to deliver your course, to comply with tax and accounting law, or to support or defend a legal claim. When it is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.
How we protect your information
We use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL/TLS) encryption to protect data in transit, along with access controls and organisational measures designed to keep your personal information secure.
Your rights
Under the PDPL, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected (rectification);
- have your data erased;
- restrict how we process your data;
- ask us to stop processing your data;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- object to automated processing of your data;
- withdraw your consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@cotec.uk. To protect your information, we will first take reasonable steps to verify your identity before acting on your request.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal data, please tell us first at info@cotec.uk so we can put it right. If we cannot resolve it, you may lodge a complaint with the UAE data protection supervisory authority under the PDPL, or — if you are in the UK or EU — with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) or your local supervisory authority.
Children
Our courses are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version posted on this page on the day you use the website is the one that applies. We encourage you to review it periodically.
